In the future, televisions will be used as windows to deliver content to various aspects of our daily lives. A wide variety of content will be easily viewable at anytime and anywhere, regardless of whether it is broadcast on TV or over the internet. Broadcasting services will increasingly become a part of everyday life.

In recent years, more and more televisions have been designed with the ability to view internet programs. Content that streams online can be seen easily by operating a remote control and a smartphone. However, when a user wants to watch a broadcasting program, switching to a tuner is necessary and the user experience is interrupted. In order to solve this problem, we have been researching a method that enables simple switching from broadcasting to the internet, and vice versa, for a smooth program viewing experience.
This technology does not require viewers to worry about switching between broadcasting and the internet, therefore realizing smooth content viewing. A familiar, easy operation for watching TV enables the viewing of various programs provided via broadcasting and the internet.
Realization of easy-to-use content viewing without being conscious of the transmission path
We are examining the realization of a seamless interaction between broadcasting and the internet by utilizing a broadcast-independent managed application newly standardized by the IPTV Forum Japan and combining it with the functions of conventional Hybridcast and Hybridcast Connect.
We are researching technology that enables users to view content without worrying about transmission paths by making the functions of broadcasting and the internet usable with applications that rely on transmission path abstraction technology.
