[COMMENTARY]
Born in 1959, Lin left his home in a farm village at 16 and became a baker in Taipei. In 1993, his first feature film, A DRIFTING LIFE was awarded a Silver Medal in the Young Cinema Competition at the Tokyo International Film Festival. In 1994, he directed his second feature film, MURMUR OF YOUTH, which was screened during Director's Week at the Cannes International Film Festival. This is his third work.
Ah-fen, who works as a wedding garment designer, is miserable after a break-up of her marriage. Her only source of comfort is her brother's existence. Chuen-sheng, on the other hand, puts off visiting his sister for a long time after getting out of the military, although he really loves her. He steals from his financially strapped father and indulges in prostitutes.
One day, a beautiful prostitute Mai-li appears before them. The delicate relationship between sister and brother begins to degenerate gradually. |
