News Disaster Prevention Application

Since 2016, in addition to NHK broadcasts, NHK has been providing the “NHK News and Disaster Prevention Application,” to provide information regarding disasters such as earthquakes, typhoons and heavy rainstorms as quickly as possible, through smartphones.

The application delivers the latest news as well as regional weather forecasts and disaster information. It also provides evacuation information from local governments and other life-line information collected by NHK. During disaster and other times, it also provides news simultaneously with news programs and live distribution of weather-camera video from various regions.

We are continuing to develop and improve this tool to be even more useful in Japan, where disasters occur frequently.
