Every Thursday and Friday, the Kaihoku Elementary School is offering supplemental class for foreign students. This is called the Houkago Umi class. The students who are included in this class belong to different nationalities.

The Umi class is focused on teaching students the Japanese language and exposing them to cultures of other countries. Due to their exposure to various cultures, the students had improved their international understanding and appreciate each other's uniqueness.

Some of the students are Filipinos. Last May 11, 2023, the students watched a video of NHK for School. The title of the video they have watched is "How was it?". In this video, it presented about the children's life in the Philippines.
（中にはフィリピンから来た児童もいて、先日「キソ英語を学んでみたら世界とつながった。」でフィリピンの生活を紹介した回を見ました。）

One of the themes they have watched is about a popular game in the Philippines entiled "Stop Dance". After watching, the teacher facilitated an activity to introduce and to make them experience this game. The students enjoyed playing the "stop dance".
