The Power Factor successfully uses the opportunities of digital media to deepen the understanding of democracy but further to that - it makes the audience reflect on itself. The project manages to deliver a complex civil rights issue not only by helping to understand how political systems work, but also by inviting the users to find out about one’s own opinions and to share and compare them.
The Power Factor is challenging and highly interactive. And due to the very focused and well-thought concept and a clever and beautiful design, it meets the audience exactly where it is at. The website is extremely user friendly and empowers the user to completely take control of the experience.
To the Jury, The Power Factor has all the requirements needed to meet its aims – that of engaging the user in the understanding of democracy and its values.

A democratic society requires its citizens to be educated and motivated to exercise their civil rights and obligations. Democracy is also one of the key elements in the Swedish educational system, but it’s a complex topic that can be abstract for students.
The Power Factor offer different perspectives on democracy. The main focus of the website is to visualize complicated expressions and data, through films, interactive quizzes and infographics. The students can compare their own views and living conditions to others through data from global studies and see similarities and differences and create a context by discussing this with others. It allows each person to self-reflect on their own values, and then compare their answers with those of all other respondents. Visualization and storytelling help us to engage users to learn about democracy, as a group and individually.
