Milton Chen

Having served as Executive Director of GLEF from 1998 to 2010, Dr. Milton Chen played a leadership role in making Edutopia films, magazine, and Edutopia.org, its multimedia website, a popular brand for educators and others interested in educational innovation. Today the website has grown to have more than 1 million accesses per month. Prior to joining GLEF, he served as the founding director of the KQED Center for Education (PBS) in San Francisco, taught at Harvard Graduate School of Education as Assistant Professor, and contributed to productions of Sesame Workshop, first serving as a director of research in the 1970s. As a frequent speaker at education conferences worldwide, Dr. Chen has presented more than 100 keynote addresses in 41 states and 10 countries since 2010 after writing the award-winning book, Education Nation: Six Leading Edges of Innovation in our Schools.
He joined the jury panel at the Japan Prize 1998, and chaired the Program Division judging in 2002.
