日本で暮らす外国人の皆さんに、多言語でお役立ち情報をお届けする番組「Living in Japan」。英語、中国語、ベトナム語、ポルトガル語の週替わりで、毎週日曜日に放送しているラジオ番組です。毎回、日本での生活が長い、様々な分野の「センパイ」を招いて、在留外国人の皆さんの生活にとって役立つヒントをお届けしていますが、5月1日（日）放送の回では、日本の「避難所」について私がお話することになりました！
NHK World Japan’s “Living in Japan” is a radio program that gives you guidance on issues that arise in everyday life in Japan. You can rely on the advice because it comes from experienced senpai! Tune in and make your life in Japan even more rewarding.
“Living in Japan” is broadcast on the first Sunday of every month, and for May 1st’s show, I will be joining from Sapporo and talk about “evacuation center” or 避難所 in Japanese.
地震や豪雨など災害が起きた時に設置される「避難所」といえば、日本に暮らす私たちは、だいたいどんな場所で、どんな支援を受けられるのか知っていますよね。ところが、初めて日本に暮らす外国人の皆さんにとっては、完全なる未知の世界。もし自分が海外で災害に遭ったらと考えると、確かに、避難所に行くには少し勇気がいるかもしれません…。
We all know evacuation centers are set up in response to disasters such as earthquakes, typhoons, heavy rains and so on. But do we know where they are and when they open?
Where is the closest center to your house? Do you have to go the one that’s closest to your house? In the May 1st’s show, I will be answering to those questions. Let’s share the basics of “what is an evacuation center”.
実際、私も取材の中で「そもそも避難所ってどこにあるの？いつできるの？」とか「日本語が分からなくても行って大丈夫なの？」など、避難所に関する疑問を、直接、外国人の方々から聞きました。どんな支援を受けられるのか分からないために、避難所に行くことをためらう外国人も少なくないのが現状です。
そこで！番組では、これら日本の避難所の基本の「き」について、MCのスチュアート・オーさんとルース・ジャーマンさんの質問に答えながら私が解説します。
「避難所には何を持っていけば良いの？」「外国人だからこそできる事とは？」など、在留外国人の方にとっては新しい知識であり、また、私たち日本人にとっても、外国人の皆さんがどんな点に不安を抱いているのかを知ることができる内容です。いざという時に、避難所に避難することを躊躇する外国人が1人でも少なくなることを願って。出演は番組後半の「Good to know」というコーナーです。
I have met some international residents in Hokkaido who said that they feel reluctant to go to an evacuation center because they don’t know what they can rely on it to do for them. So in the show, I will also talk about some of the things centers can offer for us, and what international residents can do to keep the center going in return. Let’s learn about evacuation centers and know the tips on how to survive in Japan in times of natural disasters with our MC Stuart O and Ruth Jarman.
