Mochi with Sesame Sauce
If you like sesame, you're going to love this dish! The sweet sauce covering the mochi rice cakes is made with black sesame seeds that have been ground until perfectly smooth.

Ingredients (Serves 1)
- 1 mochi rice cake (pre-cut into rectangles)
- 4 tbsp black sesame seeds
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp miso
- 1 tbsp mirin
- 1 tbsp dashi
Make the [Sesame sauce]. Toast the black sesame seeds and then grind until smooth using a mortar and pestle. Add the sugar and grind together. Add the miso, mirin, and dashi and mix to combine.
Grill the mochi until golden brown and then soak in hot water to soften.
If the mochi piece is large, cut it in half. Plate and cover with the [Sesame sauce].
