[SYNOPSIS]
NASA Astronaut William D. Stanaforth is aboard the spaceship Zephyr, waiting to launch. Technical delays have stranded him for days, threatening to scrub his mission. A lifelong prankster and adventurer, Stanaforth cuts his frustration with dark humor, and finally conceives a daring workaround that will get him going. He launches—on a one-way mission to Mars.

In the decades since Apollo 11 landed on the moon, space exploration's relevance in our society has been questioned, leading some to ask what happened to our sheer sense of wonder and curiosity.  But here, at last, man is daring to go back to space, and to go further than ever before.
