A Memorial for Former NHK STRL TV Research Director Keiji SUZUKI
Mr. Keiji SUZUKI, a former Director of the NHK Science & Technical Research Laboratories TV Research Division, passed away on February 2, 2003. He was 91 years old.
During his time at STRL, he devoted himself mainly to the research and development of microwave relay broadcast technology. He contributed greatly to the advancement of space-born TV relay broadcast technology, and spearheaded a successful international television relay broadcast from the Tokyo Olympics. He received an IEEE Vladimir Zworykin Award in 1967, and used the prize money to found the "Suzuki Award," which aims to promote academic/technological advancements in video information media by nurturing young researchers and engineers. The entire STRL staff extends its sincerest condolences to the bereaved family.
