We are advancing the research and development of a new on-air graphics technology that allows viewers to enjoy sports programs even more.
We are exhibiting a technology in which sensors and camera information are used to obtain highly precise information such as the trajectory of a ball position and the head pose of an athlete.

Features

High-precision video analysis of objects
The technology can provide high-precision estimates of the position of the ball and the head pose of an athlete by applying video analysis methods to each object. By using the obtained information, broadcasters can produce graphics that are useful for sports program commentary.
High-speed graphics by combining images and sensor information
Information about objects can be obtained more quickly and accurately by combining sensor information with camera images. This capability can be applied in a variety of situations, even live sports broadcasts, which face many time constraints.

Future plans

We seek to apply this technology at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. We are advancing R&D to realize its commercialization by further improving the technology’s capabilities such as accuracy and ease of use.
