NHK's archive of programs, including news, high-quality documentaries/dramas, and cultural/entertainment programs, is an important cultural asset for the Japanese people. NHK is considering various services for our viewers to more freely utilize and enjoy these cultural assets.
The Archives On Demand service exploits the convergence of broadcasting and communications. In addition to archived programs, it offers viewers away to view recent broadcasts over the Internet, so that they can enjoy NHK programs anytime they like.
|
- It provides NHK's broadcast programs to individual homes through a broadband network. A program can be enjoyed on a personal computer or large-display TV with internet connectivity.
- An easy-to-use interface has been developed to make this service enjoyable and accessible to everybody, from children to elderly users.
|
- The full-scale implementation of this service enabled through the convergence of broadcasting and communications will have an interface that uses metadata to provide viewers with a wide selection of the latest and previous broadcasts.
- We hope for this service to be launched in 2008.
