| A field Pick-up Unit (FPU) is a portable microwave link for sending emergency reports and relay broadcasts to a broadcasting station. An FPU consists of a transmitter (receiver) and a parabolic antenna. Prompt emergency and relay broadcasting from a mountainous area requires highly mobile outside broadcasting systems that are lightweight, easily transportable, and easily set up. To attain enhanced mobility, we have developed a deployable, lightweight mesh parabolic antenna. |
- The reflector is made of fine metal wire. Its weight is half that of a conventional parabolic antenna.
- It folds up and expands like an umbrella, making it easy to transport and assemble.
- Wind can pass through the reflector surface, so the effects of wind pressure are reduced.
- The transparent reflector allows visual confirmation of its transmitting direction from behind the antenna.

| We will perform transmission experiments and field tests on the system. |
