Background and Objectives |
| |
Studies continue on broadcasting services based on home servers, which will allow a user to utilize broadcasting contents accumulated at the receiver side, or through a broadband connection. This service is expected to turn the TV into an integrated services terminal for broadcasting and telecommunications. With the aim of realizing such a television system, STRL is participating in the Council on Experiments of Advanced Contents Distribution of the Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications (MPHPT). |

Features |
| |
- In addition to main video and audio, this service will provide video and textual data related to the main program by using data broadcasting contents and metadata, meeting a wide range of requests from viewers.
- With the use of metadata, this service will allow a viewer to enjoy broadcasting/telecommunications linkage-type services that seamlessly incorporate contents that are being broadcast, have been accumulated at home, or on a server (with a broadband connection to the home), without him/her having to be concerned with the contents transmission channel.
- An advanced CAS (Conditional Access System) technology will protect contents copyrights, enabling a user to view contents according to its conditions of usage.
- With the application of WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplex) technology, multi-channel, high-quality picture digital broadcasting and ultrahigh-speed Internet will be transmitted to homes via a single optic fiber cable. |
