Around this time, STRL sowed seeds for the growth of new media in the form of Hi-Vision (HDTV) and satellite broadcasting. Following the high-quality TV research of 1964, STRL initiated studies on PDPs (Plasma Display Panels) in 1971, aiming at developing a wall-mounted TV set. Broadcasting’s technological advancement would experience a more drastic change later with the successful implementation of satellite broadcasting technology and the appearance of digital technology.
