On April 13, 1940, the first TV drama in Japan was produced at
an STRL studio for broadcast to the Broadcasting Hall and Atagoyama.
It was Yuge-mae by Uhei Ima (later, Harube Ima). The
broadcast lasted approximately 12 minutes. The set employed two
cameras, four 3 kW lights and two 5 kW lights. It was a domestic
drama depicting the ordinary life of a family of three: a young
unmarried woman, her older brother, and their mother.
