The fishbone like antenna design being used throughout
Japan for receiving terrestrial TV broadcasts was invented in
1926 by H. Yagi and S. Uda of Tohoku Imperial University.
The Yagi/Uda antenna has a simple structure,
yet retains a high level of performance (1926)
