| The Board of Governors |
The Board of Governors is the decision-making body for every important matter concerning NHK's management policy and operations, including the annual budget, operational plan and basic programming policy. The Board consists of twelve well-informed and experienced governors who can make impartial decisions in the public interest. The governors are approved by both Houses of the Diet on behalf of the people of Japan, and appointed by the prime minister.

| Executive Board |
NHK's executive officers
are the organization's president, executive vice-president and
nine managing directors. The president represents NHK and oversees
matters designated by the Board of Governors as NHK business.
The president, executive vice-president and managing directors
form the Executive Board. As set forth in the Broadcast Law
and NHK's Articles of Association, the Executive Board discusses
matters requiring the official approval of the Board of Governors,
as well as matters that the president wishes the Executive Board
to examine.

| The Audit Committee |
The Audit Committee,
independent of both the Board of Governors and the Executive
Board, audits all business conducted by the Governors and the
Executive Board and reports to the Board of Governors. The Audit
Committee consists of three or more members chosen from and
appointed by the Board of Governors. At least one member is
appointed full time.
