A Japanese photographer entered the epicenter and took photographs of what he saw there on the day after the atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. Named Yosuke Yamahata, he was sent in by the Japanese army. His photographs provide a graphic, invaluable historical record of the extent of the devastation and injuries. This program, produced in 1995, introduces those pictures remastered by the latest American digital techniques. They reveal the horror of Nagasaki directly after the bombing.

Guest:Shogo Yamahata
Narration:Stuart Atkin
