A color picture survives of a boy lying prostrate with severe burns on his back. Sumiteru Taniguchi, now 76, has borne those scars for 60 years. He was delivering mail in the city of Nagasaki on August 9, 1945, when the bomb was dropped. His skin cannot be restored even by the state-of-the-art modern medicine, and his wife of nearly half a century, Eiko, tends him daily. Taniguchi still gives many talks despite the continuing pain, and participated in a gathering for the elimination of nuclear weapons in New York in April, 2005. The documentary traces the postwar experience of this man with incurable burns on his back and his painful memories of the atomic bombing.
