In 2002, the Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Hall for Atomic Bomb Victims was opened within the compounds of the Peace Memorial Park in the city. This is where computers are used to search for photographs of and/or written messages left by individual victims who perished in the A-bombing of the city. The users of this system are now beginning to obtain clear pictures of family members who had been listed as missing since that fateful day.
The program shows citizens of Hiroshima who are still in pursuit of memories of their family members, by focusing on a woman who finds details of the last moments of her father, who had long been listed among the missing victims. A neighbor at the time of the A-bombing contacted the newly dedicated Hiroshima National Peach Memorial Hall for Atomic Bomb Victims to confirm that the photograph was of her father. It only remains now for this woman to accept the harsh reality of her father's death.
