Readings for Life is a series in which people from various walks of life talk about their most significant experiences in their own words. Ms. Sadako Kurihara, a poet of Hiroshima, experienced the bombing and has been writing about it ever since. Her representative work is "Umashimen-kana" (It has to be born), which describes the ray of hope represented by a baby born in the ruins. She stresses the importance of telling the truths of Hiroshima for posterity, recites some of her poems and also presents works by fellow writers of A-bomb literature, including Ms. Shinoe Shoda.
Guest: Sadako Kurihara
