Study English is changeless in the new year.

What is your target in this year?

I wish my target is "study English everyday",

But actual target is "I think about English everyday."

「明けましておめでとうございます」

定時の番組が終わって、まもなく一年になりますが、
あっという間に、２０１０年を迎えましたね。

年が変わっても、英語勉強の旅は終わりませんね・・・。

皆さんの今年の目標は何でしょう？

仕事ですか？　恋愛ですか？　それとも家族ですか？

私の目標は『毎日英語の勉強をする』では、難しいので、
ちょっとハードルを下げて『一日一回必ず、英語について考える』にしました。

とにかく、続けていこう！

本年も宜しくお願い致します。

質問です。
日本の若者達は『あけおめ』とか『ことよろ』なんて、省略して言いますが、海外の若者達でも、省略するような今ドキな言葉はあるのでしょうか？
そして、『本年も宜しくお願い致します」という極めて日本的な言い方は、無いのでしょうか？（調べても出てきませんでした。）

〜先生からのアドバイス〜
基本的には日本語のような省略は英語にはありません。ただメールやチャットでよく見るのは日常的なフレーズの頭文字だけを使う略語です。一番多い例は
BTW (by the way), IMO (in my opinion), LOL (laughing out loud), とROFL (rolling on the floor laughing)等でしょう。これらはご覧のとおり発音できるものではないので基本的には書き言葉に限られます。
２つ目の質問ですがもともと「よろしくお願いします」という概念が英語にはありません。というわけなので、残念ながら「本年も宜しくお願い致します」というフレーズを訳すのは非常に大変です。
ただし。例えば同僚へ年賀状またはクリスマスカードを送る場合は"Looking forward to working with you in 2010"という感じで、お互いの間柄を指して新年の挨拶に盛り込むはできます。

"Lonely Christmas"

How was the program two days run?
It was really a sweet pleasure.

We are going to greet the New Year.
I feel that new year coming very early.

And….

Christmas….

Everywhere decorate the illumination in this season.

I went to the Omotesando’s illumination the other day.
They have had in 11years.

There were many families and couples in chilly day.
I feel like happy and hot but I’m so lonely.

This picture was only scene. I couldn’t take the picture myself.
It was very shame situation….

I wish I have a wonderful next year!

"Lonely Christmas"

What did you think of our two-night special?
It felt great to be back on the show again.

With one thing and another, we're almost at the New Year.
I feel that the new year comes earlier every year.

And something else, too....

Christmas....

「独りぼっちのクリスマス」

こんにちは！

いかがでしたか,
二夜連続のしゃべらナイトは？
なんだか、懐かしかったですね。

なんだかんだ、もう今年もあとわずかですね。
歳を重ねるごとに、一年一年が早くなるような気がしますね。

で、今年もやって来ますね。

クリスマス･･･。

この季節、街中の至るところにルミネーションがありますね。
先日、１１年ぶりに復活した東京・表参道のイルミネーションを見に行ってきました。

寒い中、本当に沢山のカップルや家族連れがいて、
楽しく、あたたかい気分になりましたが、寂しかったです･･･。

写真は、景色だけですよね。恥ずかしくて自分撮りは出来ませんでした･･･。

来年こそは、いい一年になりますように。
そして、皆さんも良いクリスマスと一年をお過ごし下さい！！

〜先生からのアドバイス〜
Winter nights are long and cold, so it's easy to get depressed even with all the glittering lights. Don't make things worse by putting pressure on yourself! Look back on everything you've achieved this year: now imagine how much further you'll be able to go -- in your personal and professional life -- in 2010!

"Public KARAOKE competition!"

The last time, my teacher pointed out the habit of study English.
I should listen to something English sentence every day.
After this, to begin with listening to English music every morning.
（News or podcast is very high hurdle…）
It is rehab my English.

The other day, I had a chance to show the fruit of my efforts.
I had a public recording in Kyoto.
And we had a program "Let’s sing English song and marking!"

MC and guests sang enthusiastically on the stage.

Such is "Shaberanaito"!!
My clothes were soaking wet with sweat.

You are looking forward to music and result!!

Last time, my teacher said that I should make studying English a habit.
I should listen to something in English every day.
After this, I began listening to English music every morning on my way to work.
(The news or podcasts set the bar too high.…）
It is "English rehab!"

The other day, I had a chance to show that my efforts had paid off.
We had a public recording in Kyoto.
And we had a section called, "Let’s sing in English and grade our pronunciation!"

Presenters and guests sang enthusiastically on the stage.

That's how we do it on "Shaberanaito"!!
My clothes were soaking with sweat.

「公開カラオケ大会！」

どうも！
前回、毎日１０分でも英語を聞くことが大切、と
指摘を受けた、僕です。
それ以降、ニュースはハードルが高いので、
まずは通勤時に英語の歌を聴くことから始めました。
まぁ、リハビリですね・・。

先日、その成果が発揮できる場所がありました。
京都で行われた公開収録です。
その中で、
「英語の歌を歌って発音を採点してみよう！」のコーナーがあったんです。

ＭＣとゲストが、真剣にステージで熱唱。

これが「しゃべらナイト」流、ですね。
汗びっしょりでした・・・。

曲名と結果は、お楽しみに。

１２月１８日に放送予定です。

〜先生からのアドバイス〜
青井さんがちゃんと毎日英語を耳にしてくれているのが嬉しいですね！これからも負けずに毎日ちょっとだけでも頑張り続けて欲しいです。

"A after long time"

The other day, the public shooting held at Aoyama.
In my conclusion, "It was very very delighted!"

We don’t have a chance to meet you after rest this program.
We are so happy that receive with applause.
And, it had been half a year since I saw them last.
I worry about combination before it.
But our conversation is automatically smooth when we started talking.
Pakkun was really sharp as before. It various mean.

It all happened in an instant.
The public shooting will be open on November 11th in KYOTO.

Everybody always said, "fall of reading", "fall of appetite", "fall of spots"….
For me, "fall of English" In this autumn.

"It's been a long time"

The other day we had a public recording at Aoyama, Tokyo.
In conclusion, "It was so much fun!"

We haven't had much of a chance to see you since the weekly program ended.
We were so happy to be met with applause.
And it's been six months since all four of us were together.
I worried about that before we went on stage.
But our conversation was natural and smooth once we started talking.
Pakkun was just as sharp as before, in many ways.

It was all over so fast.
The next public recording will be on November 11th in Kyoto.

Everybody always talks about fall being a "season of reading," "season of appetite," "season of sports"….
For me this fall will be the "season of English."

「久しぶりの」

先日、東京・青山で、ひっさびさの公開収録がありました！

結論から言うと、
「楽しかった〜！！！」

番組がお休みになってから、
なかなか皆さんにお逢いする機会が無かったので、
ホントに嬉しかったです。
しかも、大勢のみなさんに拍手で迎えられて・・・。
さらに、
半年振りに４人揃っての収録。
始めはどうなるかなぁーなんて思っていましたが、
やはり自然と息が合うもんですね。
相変わらず、パックンも冴えていましたよ！色々な意味で・・。

本当に、あっという間の時間でした。
今月の11日も京都で公開収録があるから楽しみです。

皆さんがよく言う、「読書の秋」「食欲の秋」「読書の秋」
ボクの今年の秋は「英語の秋」になりそうです！

追伸：正直、最近あまり英語を勉強しておりませんでした。
やはり、勉強していないと、書くのもだいぶ時間がかかりますね・・・。
１時間くらいかかりました・・・。ふぅ。

〜先生からのアドバイス〜
確かに言語は筋肉のように定期的に使わないといつの間にかなまってしまうものです。「勉強しないと」と重く感じないで、本当に少しでいいので毎日ラジオで１０分英語を流す、インターネットで英語の記事に目を通すという風にまた「英語筋」を慣らしてみてはいかがですか？

"A reward"

Did you get a good memory in your summer vacation and straight holidays?

I was climbed a Mt. Fuji.

This is on the second try.
But it has a steep mountain path.
And my legs were trembling shaking,
I often felt "I'm done for...."

I succeeded in reaching with great difficulty.
It is good summer memory in 2009.

Moreover, when I came down a mountain,
Mt, Fuji gave me a reward!
That's right! A sea of clouds.

For the first time to see it!
It's very mystic and magnificence.

Of course, I don't want to collateral.
If I'm going to do something harder,
I will get great reward!

If I'm going to study English more harder,
I will get a great something!?

"A reward"

「ご褒美」

夏休み、そして連休と、楽しい思い出は沢山出来ましたかぁ〜！？

ボクはこの夏、富士山に登ってきましたよ♪

2回目でしたが、
頂上までのその道は、とても険しいモノでした。
足がガクガクになり、
「もう、駄目だ・・・」と、心が折れそうになりました。

そして、
やっとの思いで到着した、山頂での達成感、
この夏のいい思い出になりました。

さらに、下山し終えようとした時、
富士山はもう一つご褒美をくれました。
そうです！雲海です。
（写真を見てください！）
生まれて初めて見る雲海。
とても神秘的かつ壮大でした。

見返りを期待してはいけないのですが、
頑張れば、こんな素敵なご褒美がもらえるんですね！

英語も頑張って勉強すれば、
何か素敵なご褒美があるのかもしれないですね！

〜先生からのアドバイス〜
Congratulations on climbing Mt. Fuji! 勉強と言うのははっきりとした山頂がないので時々自分は永遠に登らなければいけないのでは？と思ってしまう時もありますけど、毎日ちょっとずつ攻略すれば確実に成長して、身に付いていきます。そして海外旅行、ネイティブとの会話、英語でニュースを聞くなどというご褒美が見えてくると思います。どうかあきらめず頑張ってください！

"Great a comrade"

Hi! Everybody.

Well, let’s get back to the subject.
I’m going to introduce the lovely occurrence.

One day, a women student called out to me on a commuter train.
In a quivering voice...

"Excuse me, are you Mr. Aoi? "
I gave an answer, "Yes."
She said, "I always watching SＨABERANAITO!!"
We started our conversation.

She is a student an examination for university.
And she watched our program in her break time.

I showed my English text and we talking about study English at the train.

It is very very short time.
But I met a viewer like this,
I was deeply moved by lovely student.

Thank you for her courage,
And I wish her going to pass an examination.

Let’s keep training each other!

"A great ally"

Hi, everybody.
How are your English studies going?

Actually, is anyone even reading this diary...?

Well, let’s get back to the subject.
I’m going to tell you about something lovely which happened to me.

One day, a female high-school student called out to me on a commuter train.
In a quivering voice: "Excuse me, are you Mr. Aoi?"
I answered, "Yes."
She said, "I always watch SHABERANAITO!!"
We started chatting.

She is studying for her university entrance exams.
And she watched our program during her study breaks.

We live in the same direction so I showed her my English textbook and we talked about how difficult English is.

It was a very, very short encounter.
But I was deeply moved by meeting a viewer and fellow student.

I'd like to thank her for talking to me, and I wish her success in her exams!

「素晴らしい仲間」

みなさ〜ん！調子はどうですか〜！
英語の勉強、やってますか〜♪

ってか、この日記は果たして読まれているのだろうか・・・？

そんな事はさておき、
ちょっと前にあった、素敵な出来事を紹介しましょう。

ある日、
通勤電車の中で、ある女子高校生に声を掛けられました。
「あの〜、青井さんですか？」と。
「そうですよ」と答えると、
「しゃべらナイト、いつも観てます！」と声を震わせながらも、会話が始まりました。

聞くと、
彼女は受験勉強中で、息抜きがてら、番組を観てくれていたそうです。

帰り道が一緒だったので、
バッグの中の英語勉強道具を見せたり、
英語って難しいよね〜なんて、話をしました。

もの凄く短い時間でしたが、
こういう形で、番組を観てくれている方と触れ合う事が出来て、
こんな素晴らしい仲間がいるんだ！と感激しました。

緊張しながらも声を掛けてくれた、彼女の勇気に感謝し、
彼女の合格を祈願したいと思います！

お互い頑張りましょう！

"a downward curve..."

Hi, everybody. How are you?
What's new?
How about study English?

Study English is endless, isn’t it?

But,
If we get a result, we’ll get the motivation.

So, I took an examination 2 months ago what type of a computer-scored answer sheet.

I’ve had take the test when I was college student.
I am trying for the highest score in this time.

If I am going to get the high score, so I motivate from it.
And my mind is up, so my high score is better.
I thought it before I took an exam.

However,
I saw the results of the examination.
It did not reach the target

I was shocked at it.
Actually my motivation is down...

I should set my goal low...
Set the goal is very important that study English.

Um....
I hope my motivation will be better one month later.

"A downward curve...."

Hi, everybody. How are you?
What's new?
Are you studying English?

There's no end to studying English, is there?

But we get motivated when we see results.
So I took an exam two months ago. The usual type of computer-scored test.

I'd taken the test when I was a college student so I tried for a higher score this time.

If I achieve my goal, I'll be motivated by that.
If I'm motivated, I'll get a higher score.
That's what I thought before I took the exam.

However, I saw the results.
Sadly, I did not reach my target.

I was pretty shocked.
And actually I'm a bit less motivated now....

I should set my goals lower....
Setting goals is very important in studying English.

Um....
I hope my motivation will be better in a month's time.

「英語の勉強はしてますか〜！？」

英語の勉強をしていて感じるのは、
話すことの難しさ、ですね。

英語って、
いつまでも終わりの無い勉強ですね。

でも、
成果が見えると、やる気が出てくるものですよね。
ということで、
２ヶ月前、あるテストを受けました。
みなさんも結構受けている、マークシート方式のテストですね。

大学時代に受けたこともあるので、
今回は、それ以上を目指して頑張りました。

目標を達成することが出来れば、
モチベーションも上がる。
モチベーションが上がれば、結果も出てくる。
試験を受ける前までは、
そんなことを考えていました。

しかし、
結果を見ると、
残念ながら、目標には届きませんでした・・・。

結構、ショックでしたよ・・・。
逆に、モチベーションが少し下がってしまいました・・・。

目標を低くするべきでしたね・・・。
目標設定は、重要ですね。

うーん、
一ヵ月後にはモチベーションが上がってくるといいんですが・・・。

〜先生からのアドバイス〜

青井さんは目標設定と仰っていますが、そもそもそういうテストで試される文法や文章の解読などではなく、人と話して、言葉がちゃんとなってなくてもお互い通じ合うのが本当のコミュニケーションだと思うので、あまりこれで落ち込まないで欲しいと思います。

逆に、これからの1ヶ月間で英語で会話できる機会を増やしましょう！ 30分きちんと「ＸＸ」についてネイティブと会話する！というような目標がいいのではないかと思いますが…。

"To speak English is difficult!!"

I feel speak English is difficult when I study English.
Everybody had felt, we always use same word when we speak in English.
For example about a greeting, someone says "How are you?"
My answer is "fine" or "pretty good" If I was not good condition.
"good" "no so bad" "so so" etc...
It is exchange conventional greetings, isn’t it?
And they greeting is changed, "What’s up" and "How’s it going" etc...
Oh, English is too difficult...

This is the problem which now confronts me.
"A conjunction"
If you have watched our program, you know a habit of my English,
I always use "so" when I connect 2 sentences.
We have other phrases "anyway" "although" "therefore" and "also" etc...
Of course the situation is different but if I use more frequently...
So I’m going to get a rhythm my speaking.
I gonna try to use other phrase except "so" in a month!!

"Speaking English is difficult!!"

I feel that speaking English is the difficult part of studying English.
I'm sure you've felt the same. We always use the same words when we speak in English.
For example if someone asks, "How are you?",

I answer "Fine," or "Pretty good." Even if I don't feel well, I end up saying, "Good," "Not so bad," "So-so," "How are you?",etc....
It's easy just to exchange familiar greetings, isn't it?
And then there are other greetings, too: "What's up?" and "How's it going?", etc.
Oh, English is just too difficult....

This is the problem which now confronts me.
"Conjunctions"
If you have watched our program, you know my English habits:
I always use "so" when I connect two sentences.
There are other words like "anyway," "although," "therefore," and "also," etc.
Of course it depends on the situation, but I should use them more frequently....
Using them should help give my speech a better rhythm.
This month I'm gonna try to use other words instead of "so"!!

「しゃべるのって難しい！」

英語の勉強をしていて感じるのは、
話すことの難しさ、ですね。

皆さんも感じたことがあるかも知れませんが、
会話をしていると、自然と同じフレーズを使ってしまうんですよね。

例えば、
"How are you?"
という相手に対して、"fine" もしくは "pretty good" と。
決して気分が良くないときにも、ついつい言ってしまうんですよね。
"good" "no so bad" "so so" などなど。
お決まりで“いつも言っている言葉が出てきてしまうことってありませんか？

しかも、
"What’s up" "How’s it going?" など、相手の聞き方も変わってきますから、
英語って、難しいですね・・・。

最近の課題なんですが、
接続詞ですね。
番組を見てくださっていた方なら、
お分かりかと思いますが、
ボク自身、センテンスとセンテンスを繋ぐときに、つい"so〜" と出てしまうんです。

他にも、
"anyway" "although" "therefore" や "also" など、まぁ状況によって違いますが、
使える言葉があるんですけどね・・・。
色々使えれば、会話にテンポが出てくると思うので、

これから１ヶ月間はこの "so"を使わないように心がけます！

I keep study English in my way.

However that may be, chance to speak English is decrease.
I feel I have to speak English more in my real life.
I want to provide the speak opportunity in early summer.

Long time no see. How have you been?

How was ESN after its long break?

All of my colleagues are still working hard!

I'm still studying English at my own pace.
I study vocabulary and grammar in my free time,
and I listen to English while I commute on the train.

That said, I have fewer chances to speak English now.
I feel I have to speak English more in my private life.
I hope to find a chance to speak by early summer.

I will try to keep taking tests and training.

「勉強は続けてマス♪」

みなさん、ご無沙汰しております！
お元気でしたか？

久しぶりの『しゃべらナイト』はいかがでしたでしょうか？
押切さんは、相変わらず勉強を続けているみたいだし、
八嶋さんは、相変わらず抜群の勢いを持っていますし、
パックンは、より一層、面白いギャグに磨きがかかったようで・・・。

みんなそれぞれ、頑張っていますね〜！

あっ、ボクですか？！

スローペースかもしれませんが、頑張っていますよ。
時間のあるときには、単語や文法の勉強、
通勤の時も出来るだけ、英語を聞くようにしています。

ただ、そうは言っても、明らかにしゃべる機会が減りましたね・・・。
夏頃からはしゃべる機会も設けていかないと、ですね。
プライベートでもリアルに『しゃべらナイト』を実感しています・・・。

「継続は力なり」
今後も、英語のテストを受けたりして、勉強を続けていくつもりです。
次回の「英語でしゃべらナイト」も是非ご覧ください。もちろん、この『青い日記』もね！
