This summer, Kawaii International went to the Big Apple!
NHK World had a booth at Waku Waku +NYC, a Japanese pop culture and fashion festival. One of the NHK World’s TV program Kawaii International hosted a fashion show with variety of cutting edge Tokyo style produced by Misha Janette. The TV show also hosted a talk show with Misha Janette and Sebastian Masuda, discussing on Kawaii culture and beyond.

The Kawaii International Fashion Show, Tokyo Above-Underground, showcased the brilliance of Misha Janette, a prominent fashion director and TV host of NHK World's Kawaii International. Misha selected 20 different styles that each represents a popular street tribe or underground trend in Tokyo. These styles represent Japanese subcultures that remain strong and influential at the heart of Japanese fashion, and it might never have seen in the United States before. Through Misha's fashion show, guests appreciated Tokyo's inspiring creativity and more on the runway. Most of the models were selected from general viewers of Kawaii International.
