Workshop with Teens: Can Films Change Society?

Do videos have the power to solve the problems of society? Lower and upper secondary school pupils present video proposals they have made about social issues and get feedback from international film producers. Together, we will think about the power of audiovisuals.

Simon Kessler

Director (France)

Simon Kessler is a french filmmaker, writer and cinematographer based in Paris. He has worked on many documentaries for french and international networks such as National Geographic, Disney+, TF1, Canal+.
Simon Kessler was a finalist at the 2020 Japan Prize as director and co-writer of Generation Greta.
In addition to his television work, Simon has directed a number of creative short documentaries. He is also working as a story consultant on a variety of international documentary films.

Nabeelah is a British-Pakistani journalist. In 2015 she shared a British Journalism Award with The Guardian’s environmental reporting team. She has worked in France, Germany, UK and the Netherlands at multilingual news startups, legacy newspapers and media institutes, including Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at the University of Oxford, Twitter, Financial Times, The Correspondent, and more. She is senior research associate at the International Center for Journalists.

Honami was crowned Miss Japan 2016 “Greenery for Life” Award. During her term, she was involved in various events both within and outside of Japan, including G7 Ise-Shima Summit and COP 13, to promote the forestry industry of Japan. Currently, she is a freelance, mainly serving as a producer at UNIVERSITY of CREATIVITY, an open learning platform for creativity, powered by HAKUHODO Inc.
