The reality format has become very popular the world over, but it’s too often used for mindless and uninspiring content. But what would happen if you could use this format for educational purposes utilising the ingredients that drive critical social issues? You get The Dictator!
With many democracies under threat coupled with political apathy amongst young people, this social experiment gives insight on what it is like to live in a society where human rights are not valued.
The Dictator
is a daring piece; an excellent example of innovation and creativity with strong educational goals. This programme is sure to spark a lot of discussion amongst young people and the society in general.

The purpose of The Dictator is to reach young viewers and specifically those who say that they’re not interested in politics. The Series aims to inspire contemplation and thoughts concerning democratic values. There is also an ambition to start a debate about the importance of democracy and that it cannot exist without civic engagement. The TV series is made to stand out and be provocative and to achieve the purpose.
Let young people experience what life is like in a dictatorship where democratic rights and liberties are restricted. What choices do they make when confronted with various situations? How do they change as human beings and what thoughts do they have about their own lives when they now, for the first time, leave the democratic society? Their reflections, together with the audience reflections, will fulfill the purpose.
