Masahiko Sato

Media Artist; Professor,
Graduate School of Film and New Media of Tokyo University of the Arts; Visiting Professor,
Faculty of Environment and Information Studies,Keio University
Sato specializes in methods of education and expression. Using ‘How can it be conveyed?’ as a theme, he has developed new methods of expression in images, animation and graphic design. His activities have crossed over into the field of brain science. He planned and supervised the programs PythagoraSwitch, 2355/0655 and Kangaeru Karasu (Think Like a Crow).

Awards: Mainichi Design Award 2005, ADC (Art Directors Club, NY)Annual Awards Gold Cube in 2007, 2011 Award of MSJ (Mathematical Society of Japan), 2012 D&AD (British Design & Art Direction) Award, Award from the Ministry of Education in the Art Encouragement Prizes in 2011, Purple Ribbon Medal in 2013 and Official Invitation of Short Film Division for Cannes International Film Festival 2014
