Issues in Education
In the Issues in Education category, entered and evaluated programs are those for any age group which address educational issues in contemporary society or particular difficulties young children are facing now and offer specific ways for the next generation to be educated. This category in JAPAN PRIZE 2002 attracted a varied selection of 34 entries from 22 countries. Despite its different perspectives, the jury members were all struck by the universality of the program themes, from problems facing people with disabilities to issues which children and young people are dealing with all over the world.

The emotional integrity of the entries was truly heartening. Although they communicated their ideas in different styles and formats, they shared an understanding that the best way to educate is by appealing to the heart as well as the head.
