How to prepare and send your video

  1. Learn the song.
    Lyrics and Score: Click here for the music score with lyrics in Japanese and English.

    ★Japanese Song: You can download the Japanese version of “Hana wa Saku” (Flowers Will Bloom) from iTunes in countries where the song is distributed. Find the list of countries here.

    ★English Song: Those who want to sing in English can download the English version “FLOWERS WILL BLOOM” by IL DIVO from iTunes. Find the list of countries and links here.
    *Part of the royalties earned by iTunes from the song will be donated to the recovery effort in the areas affected through the NHK Public Welfare Organization.
  1. Practice singing.
    *Please do not change the lyrics in your performance.
    *You can download the instrumental version of “Hana wa Saku (Flowers Will Bloom) from iTunes and sing along with the music. Countries and their links are here.
  2. Record your performance with a smartphone or digital video camera in movie-recording mode and horizontal framing.
    *See the manual that came with your camera or smartphone.

  1. Sending your video.

    Use a YouTube accountUse a) YouTube or b) other file sharing/transmitting services, and then our MAIL FORM

    a) Upload your video file on YouTube:
    Sign up for an account at Google.
    Please read how to use YouTube here. (If you click this, you’ll leave the NHK site.)
    Please change your privacy settings to “Public.”

    *Using the instrumental version of “Hana wa Saku (Flowers Will Bloom)” as BGM for your video will result in it being blocked by YouTube. In that case, please use other file sharing/transmitting services instead.

    b) Upload your video file to any file sharing/transmitting services.


    □Send us the URL of your video upload by using our mail form below. Please read our Submission Guidelines.

    □Enter your written message in English or Japanese. Text must be no more than 400 words (2400 letters) in English and 1200 letters in Japanese.

    *When you have finished filling in the necessary criteria, click on “Agree to the Terms of Use and submit.”


    Your file must meet our uploading requirements:
    Video file types: MOV, MP4, MPG, AVI, WMV, MTS, M2TS
    Maximum file size: 500 MB

    *If your video is larger, try separating chorus 1 and 2 into separate files or reducing image resolution to 1280 X 720.

    Enter your written message to survivors in English or Japanese using our online video submit system. Text must be no more than 400 words (2400 letters) in English and 1200 letters in Japanese.

    After reading and agreeing to our Submission Guidelines, fill in the form.
    Select your movie file, click on “Agree with Submission Guidelines” and send.

    *Do not close the page until the message “File send completed” appears on the screen.

    Sending your video by post

    Send your video by post if you wish to perform the entire song in HD (resolution 1920 X 1080) or file size exceeding 500MB.

    Choose from the following media to save your movie file:
    SD memory card, USB memory stick, DVD-R (in data)

    Include your text-file message in 400 words, your name, address, phone number and email address, and then post to the address below:

Your video may or may not be posted on our Web site. Please refer to “Submission Guidelines” on our homepage. We are unable to respond to inquiries regarding the selection of videos for posting.
