Aired: March 30, 2011While many people in Japan and overseas wondered what they could do to quickly help survivors of the March 11 disaster, users of social media like Twitter and Facebook inside the disaster zone were already helping themselves and getting fast and effective aid from others in social media networks. Gone are the days when rescue efforts relied solely on the ability of governments and institutions to organize them. This program examines one of many projects by volunteer netizens coming together anonymously to build a data base that helped people locate missing friends and loved ones.
