The Japanese song “Shimauta” is an international phenomenon. Released by rock band THE BOOM in 1992, it sold more than 1.5 million copies in Japan. Its popularity then spread overseas, leading to cover versions by more than 100 artists in 12 countries. We’d love to hear new versions of “Shimauta” from J-MELO viewers around the world, so we’re inviting you to make and send a video of your own performance. The man who wrote the words and music, Kazufumi Miyazawa, will be on hand with advice and insight. We can’t wait to hear from you. |
