・A Program Production System utilizing ID and File-data over IP Networks [SMPTE2004]

Proposed by NHK, this IP network program production system uses and integrates UMID, MXF and non-destructive editing based on an editing description. A UMID is attached to all materials and the UMID, metadata, and materials are wrapped in MXF format. Materials and their metadata on distributed servers can be accessed from anywhere on the network. The result of editing is output in the form of an editing description and all materials are referenced by the UMID in the editing description. When broadcasting or completing a program, the UMID enables video reproduction equipment to search for the original source material. The video reproduction equipment then processes the material with effects specified in the editing description. Images to be superimposed can be created at the same time as the program is being edited; the program producer simply needs to know the UMID. When the system was implemented experimentally, its operation was verified and effectiveness confirmed.
