Outline
The JISADAS is a useful system when there is little preparation time before going on-air, as in the case of breaking news. It allows recording news material to a disc recorder, perform simple editing, and broadcast directly from the disc recorder. By making full use of the characteristics of the disc recorder, the system not only can record footage indefinitely, which was not possible with conventional VTRs, but can also edit and broadcast while recording. The system mainly consists of HD disc recorder, editing terminal to control the disk recorder, and broadcast terminal. Currently NHK News Center operates three JISADAS systems for terrestrial broadcasting and two for satellite.
